Shannon’s Deli, Now Open

October 6th Shannon’s Corner Butcher Shoppe & Deli opened in Downtown Lombard. It’s just north of the the Butcher shop of the same name. Let me tell you they have great selection of meats there and always give you the best advice on how to cook your choice cuts. I’m glad Shannon’s decided to open it’s 3rd or is it their 4th restaurant in Lombard. They have several other places around the area. It’s a nice little addition for lunch time in Lombard. One big bonus, I just found out you can find their Deli sandwiches at The Corner House too. Glad to see the downtown merchants working together. I had the Chicken Salad Sandwich, GREAT!

Just because you can find their deli fair at The Corner House you still need to stop by their regular store to take advantage of their full blown menu. Go in and give it a try. If you like their meat selection you’ll love their menu offerings. subs, salads, soups and sandwiches. I saw someone leave with a bowl of Chili, kind of sorry I missed that. Chili is one of my favorites, oh well maybe next time.

Actually for a smaller store they have plenty of seating and when spring comes I hope they have seating on the sidewalk.

Just look at all those meat choices so think of the sandwiches you can make!

On this day I had a hot dog and split pea soup. I’ll be back for more.

Welcome Shannon’s again to Lombard and help make them a long lasting fixture downtown. Hope you’ll find your new favorite dish there.

Hey let’s make a Wrist Band!

The other day I was thinking, I wonder how much those “LIVESTRONG” wristbands costs. Turns out, not so much. I made 10 for about $1.40, if you make 500 they are .18 cents. So I made some for Hello Lombard. Look they even have a PURPLE our town color!

I got these at Wrist-Band.com I know who would have thunk it? I’m throwing this out there as an idea for supporting Downtown Lombard. Sell them to raise money or give them away to help show support.

I’ll buy the first 500!

Met the Village President tonight

Had a fun in downtown Lombard last night, hanging out with some friends at Bonton, saw some hot rods at Lombard Cruise Nights and then some Gelato at The Corner House. Oh and I bumped into Bill Mueller our Village President, he was kind enough to let me take a picture with him!

New Eats

If you haven’t picked up any steaks at Shannon’s lately you might have might have missed the new sign in the window two doors down.

Looking forward to having a new place to eat in Downtown Lombard. So keep an eye out for the opening. Maybe I’ll see ya there!

Meet you on the Corner

The Corner House that is…

A new coffee shop opened up in town and I LOVE it and I don’t even drink coffee!

But I’ve grown fond of having a gathering place to meet others and hang out talking about the cool things that nerds talk about or just taking a few minutes and prepare for the the day. The Corner House in Lombard is the perfect place to do just that.

I’ve heard plenty of people ordering crazy coffee drinks so I’m sure they can make just about anything. Even if you’re not a coffee drinker they have a lot to choose from. Like teas and smoothies which are pretty smooth. Their White Hot Chocolate, perfect!

Lombard has long needed a place like this, they’ve come and gone and I hope The Corner House is here to stay. They picked a great location, just a few steps away from train at the corner of St. Charles and Park in downtown Lombard. The Corner House has a Great atomosphere for hanging out enjoying a good drink or pastry.

The staff is fun and nice and they’re doing a great job of getting to know their new customers.

“The Show”

If they ask you to warm up the cookie do it! Warm cookies are always the best. When ordering tea ask for “The Show” it really forces you to sit back and enjoy your surroundings. It comes with a little timer and a pot to watch the tea steep to perfection. Plus they have a lot of different brews to choose from, I’m kind of stuck on the White Monkey now. Maybe it’s just the name…

Mornings are quite there so be sure and stop in before you head into the office or just start your day. This is a nice little gem that picked Lombard and the crew is very local. There are interesting photos on the wall to check out which I hope turns into a rotating venue showcasing local artists (hint). As the week ends they even bring in live entertainment.

Whatever your reason is to get a cup of coffee or your favorite drink you’ll like the effort they put into the decor the accommodations. They’ve done a great job with the surroundings which adds to the much needed cozy place in Lombard.

If you’re ever in there on a Monday morning and you see me typing away at my computer just say hi. I might even buy you a drink.
